Arabella Stanton, best known for her West End turn as Matilda, has been officially cast as Hermione Granger in HBO’s highly anticipated Harry Potter reboot series. She joins Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, completing the iconic trio at the heart of J.K. Rowling’s reimagined Wizarding World.

The announcement was made by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, who led the global casting search alongside casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann.

"After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen," shared showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod in a shared statement.

While Stanton may be a fresh name to many film and TV audiences, she has already made a mark in London’s theatre scene. She notably played the lead in Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge Theatre under the Royal Shakespeare Company, even performing at Buckingham Palace during the BBC’s 500 Words Final.

In a personal Instagram post reflecting on that role, Stanton wrote, “Being able to play the part of Matilda as my West End debut has been incredible... dreams really can come true!”

The casting news marks a major milestone for HBO’s Harry Potter project, which aims to bring a decade-long, in-depth adaptation of the seven-book series to television. The series is expected to feature a mix of rising talent and seasoned actors in key roles, with further casting updates anticipated in the coming months.
