President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has designated an executive committee to act as “caretakers” of the country while he travels to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to participate in the 46th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits.
The executive committee consists of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, and Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III.
The committee have served previously as caretakers when Marcos went to Ventiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic for the 44th and 4th ASEAN Summits; Dubai, United Arab Emirates for a one-day working visit; and the Vatican City to attend to the funeral for Pope Francis.
Marcos will be in Malaysia between 26 to 27 May 2025 for the ASEAN Summit.
Apart from the activities in the Summit, Marcos will also meet with the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit.
