Bus crash on Colombia University outing kills 9

The bus was transporting 26 passengers from Tolima to Quindio when the driver lost control, according to police.

Several occupants were ejected from the vehicle and thrown off a bridge, falling several meters.

Police commander Luis Fernando Atuesta said authorities were working to "establish the conditions of this unfortunate accident."

Traffic accidents are a major cause of death in Colombia, which recorded an average of 22 road fatalities per day in 2024.
