A police officer was injured after responding to a report of a disturbance in Parañaque City on Friday, the police confirmed Saturday.
The victim was identified as Police Staff Sergeant Carlo Navarro, 45. Bloodied yet unbowed, he survived the assault.
Initial investigations showed that Navarro and other officers were trying to apprehend a man, known only by the alias “Arnold,” who was reportedly causing trouble in the area.
The suspect turned violent when police attempted to arrest him and stabbed Navarro with a knife.
Navarro sustained wounds to his chest and head and is currently recovering.
Authorities have arrested the suspect, who may face multiple charges, police said.
