Seiko Philippines dives into history and innovation as it celebrates the 60th anniversary of its iconic diver’s watch. A three-day showcase at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall Activity Center from 16 to 18 May marked Seiko Philippines’ first major event of the year, offering both longtime enthusiasts and casual mall-goers a rare opportunity to explore the brand’s legacy, cutting-edge timepieces and exclusive collections in one immersive space.

The event featured a curated display of Seiko’s latest innovations, alongside historic pieces that have helped shape the brand’s reputation in the world of horology. From vintage classics to state-of-the-art releases, the exhibit took guests on a journey that highlighted Seiko’s enduring impact in the field of dive watches.

Among the key attractions was an educational timeline that traces the evolution of the Seiko diver’s watch — a pioneering line first introduced in 1965. There were special offers and exclusive giveaways available only during the roadshow, adding an exciting bonus for attendees.

Visitors joined the fun with interactive activities such as a Deep Sea Hole game and took Instagram-worthy “0.5 selfies” at the Seiko photo booth.

The milestone celebration unveiled three new timepieces under the Prospex line. Leading the trio was a new Marinemaster model powered by the Caliber 8L45, drawing inspiration from the design DNA of Seiko’s iconic 1968 and 1975 diver’s watches. Crafted for serious underwater explorers, it boasted both technical excellence and refined design.

Two more Prospex models — SPB511 and SPB509 — came with fresh dial aesthetics inspired by the wave motif featured on Prospex case backs. One sports a silver dial, paying homage to Seiko’s original 1965 diver’s watch, while the other showcased a deep blue dial, echoing the 1968 model. The pieces blend of modern craftsmanship with vintage spirit appealed to collectors and divers alike.

In an exclusive interview with the DAILY TRIBUNE, Karl Dy, president of Timeplus Corporation — Seiko’s official distributor in the Philippines for over six decades — shared insights into the new releases and Seiko’s ongoing commitment to innovation.

“Today, we’re introducing three watches that vary in design and specifications. They cater to different groups — from recreational divers to professionals who require watches that can withstand depths of 300 to 600 meters,” Dy explained.

“Seiko continues to move forward by listening to its customers, especially Filipino collectors, and constantly improving our technology and craftsmanship.”

Dy also expressed deep gratitude to the local watch community.

“We’re very thankful for the support of Seiko watch enthusiasts in the Philippines. Without them, this event wouldn’t be possible. Seiko Watch Corporation recognizes the passion of Filipinos — they trust and listen to them. In fact, some of our diver’s watches are designed with Filipino feedback in mind,” he added.

The Seiko roadshow 2025 was more than just a product exhibit — it was a celebration of craftsmanship and connection. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a curious passerby, this event promises a deeper appreciation of the artistry and legacy behind one of the world’s most beloved timepieces.
