Newly designated Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon II is expected to breeze through the confirmation process when he appears before the Commission on Appointments (CA) Committee on Transportation on 3 June at 10 a.m., a day after Congress resumes session.
“The CA’s Committee on Transportation has set the meeting to consider Secretary Dizon’s ad interim appointment,” Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel, CA Assistant Minority Leader, said in a statement released Sunday.
Congress will reconvene on 2 June after a four-month recess and will adjourn again on 14 June.
Extensive record
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Dizon as DoTr head on 21 February, following the resignation of former Secretary Jaime Bautista due to health reasons.
Dizon previously served as Presidential Adviser on Flagship Programs and Projects and led the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) under the Duterte administration.
The 25-member CA, composed of 12 members each from the House and Senate and chaired by the Senate President as ex officio presiding officer, is constitutionally mandated to confirm or reject key presidential appointments based on merit and integrity.
