Mongolian Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh is set to undertake a two-day official visit to the Philippines this week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced Sunday.
According to the DFA, Battsetseg will visit the country on today and tomorrow, 19-20 May, at the invitation of her Filipino counterpart, Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo.
During the official visit, Manalo and Battsetseg will hold a bilateral meeting to review the current state of Philippines-Mongolia relations and discuss ways to further enhance cooperation as the two countries enter their sixth decade of diplomatic engagement.
The visit follows the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Mongolia in 2023.
The DFA said discussions will also include regional and global matters of mutual interest.
Battsetseg is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
“The minister’s trip marks the first official visit by a Mongolian foreign minister to the Philippines since 1984,” the DFA said.
“It reciprocates Secretary Manalo’s trip to Ulaanbaatar on Aug. 4 to 5, 2024, which marked the first official visit by a Philippine foreign secretary to Mongolia,” it added.
