University of Perpetual Help System Dalta made its presence felt as it clobbered its foes in Season 100 National Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball tournament yesterday at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Sports and Cultural Center in Manila.
The Lady Altas tightened their hold of a Final Four spot following a 25-23, 27-30, 25-16, 25-21 win over San Sebastian College in the women’s division while the Altas dominated the Stags, 25-19, 27-25, 25-23, in the men’s side.
It was a well-balanced attack for the Lady Altas as four players emerged with double digits to seal their ninth victory in four games and boosted their hopes of booking a return trip to the semifinals.
Shaila Omipon led the charge with 21 kills, two aces and 14 digs for 23 points while rookie Geraldine Palacio chipped in 11 kills and four blocks for a 15-hit effort for Perpetual, which drew 14 markers from Winnie Bedaña and 13 points from Camille Bustamante.
Setter Fianne Ariola also contributed 25 excellent sets with six points while Jodi Lozano had 12 digs and Marian Andal posted 2117 excellent receptions.
In the men’s division, Jeff Marapoc dropped 16 attacks, a block and an ace for an 18-point performance for the Altas who scored their eighth win in 14 matches and arrested a two-game losing streak.
