The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) is calling on the public to report any misinformation or disinformation related to the 2025 midterm elections through dedicated hotlines, email and social media channels.
PCO Secretary Jay Ruiz explained that this move is part of the government’s effort to combat fake news during the elections, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directives.
Ruiz shared that his office has teamed up with the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center to boost the fight against fake news. These agencies are working alongside the Integrated State Media (ISM), which includes state-run media outlets, to monitor and address false information online.
“We’ve also partnered with the DICT, who’s helping us track social media content,” Ruiz said during his visit to the ISM headquarters on Monday.
Thanks to this collaboration, the PCO has been able to quickly identify and remove fake news. “We’ve already taken down a few malicious posts. No one should spread fake news, especially when it comes to something as critical as voting,” he added.
Ruiz stressed the importance of having fair and truthful elections as the foundation of the country’s democracy.
To help ensure the integrity of the elections, the public is encouraged to report any misleading or false content. Reports can be made through the following channels:
