Former senator and senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan, along with his wife, Megastar Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan, cast their votes at Inchican Elementary School in Silang, Cavite shortly after 11 a.m. on Election Day, 12 May.

Speaking to members of the media after voting, Pangilinan said he is hoping for the best when it comes to the outcome of the elections — but emphasized that he is leaving everything in God’s hands.

“We know we did everything we could. Now, we leave the rest to God. There are things that are no longer within our control, and those we entrust to Him. In other words, whatever is not in our hands is in God’s hands — so we just trust,” he said.

“I’m hoping for the best. You expect, of course — but we’ll see, we’ll see. In the end, it’s now in the hands of the Lord. I believe that the people will ultimately decide. Whatever the result may be, we have to respect it,” he added.

Cuneta-Pangilinan echoed her husband’s sentiments and expressed gratitude to their supporters.

“We just want to thank everybody who supported Kiko, those who have already voted and those who are about to vote for him. I just hope the public votes wisely. For us, win or lose, we leave it all to God — and it will not lessen our love and commitment to the people,” she said.

Pangilinan also shared that he finally got a full eight hours of sleep after the intense 90-day campaign period. He plans to leave later this week to attend their daughter Frankie Pangilinan’s college graduation abroad.

Asked about the difference between recent survey results and public reception on the ground, the former senator pointed out that the two don’t always align.

“For me, surveys reflect opinions on that particular day. But Election Day is different. Let’s see what our countrymen decide,” he said, noting that there have been instances when candidates ranked outside the Magic 12 in pre-election surveys ended up winning Senate seats.

“We’ll see. Let’s wait until the very end. Just stay calm,” he added.
