Kaunlad Pinoy’s momentum continues to build as tricycle drivers from Taguig and Pateros formally pledge their support to the movement.
From narrow streets to busy intersections, Kaunlad Pinoy (#133) is now a familiar sight on colorful tarpaulins and fliers mounted on hundreds of tricycles across both areas. This visual show of support from local TODA (Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association) chapters reflects a shared belief in Kaunlad Pinoy’s promise of inclusive economic growth — especially for those in the informal sector.
Several TODA leaders said their endorsement came after months of quietly observing and evaluating candidates. “We don’t just hitch a ride with whoever’s popular — we look at who really cares,” said one tricycle driver. “Kaunlad Pinoy has been there for us from the start.”
In recent weeks, Kaunlad Pinoy has rolled out targeted listening tours in urban communities — including TODA terminals — spotlighting policies aimed at formalizing and safeguarding the informal workforce. These include proposed micro-financing programs, welfare support, and a roadmap to provide basic insurance coverage for tricycle drivers and operators.
Kaunlad Pinoy’s campaign has stood out for its focus on the underrepresented and underserved — from market vendors to street-side mechanics. With less than a week before voters head to the polls, this surge of public support from the transportation sector is seen as a symbolic victory.
As of today, hundreds of tricycles in Taguig and Pateros proudly display Kaunlad Pinoy’s name and colors.
“We’re with them on this journey,” declared Kaunlad Pinoy first nominee Kuya Choi. “We’ll make sure drivers have real opportunities to get ahead.”
