Authorities reported that a 48-year-old woman died and three other people were injured in a fire that engulfed a residence in Cainta, Rizal on Sunday morning.

Reports indicate that the woman returned to the burning two-story house on Garnet Street in Green Park Subdivision, Barangay San Isidro, to retrieve her laptop from the second floor but was unable to escape.

The victim's mother and sibling sustained first-degree burns and a firefighter was injured on the hand while battling the blaze.

Initial investigations showed that the fire broke out at 6:20 a.m., reached the first alarm, and was declared extinguished at 7:02 a.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection. The BFP estimated the structural damage to be around P1 million.

The Cainta BFP said they are investigating a possible electrical appliance malfunction as the cause of the fire.

Senior Fire Inspector Gary Raymond Cantillon, Cainta fire marshal, reminded the public to exercise caution with electrical appliances to prevent fires.

The Philippine National Police Scene of the Crime Operation is scheduled to conduct an on-site investigation.

Authorities also reported that another blaze razed a residential area at Valley View Executive Village Phase in Barangay Muntingdilaw.

Two residents were confirmed to have died in the deadly fire that destroyed two houses along Amethyst Street near the city boundary with Cainta at 6:42 a.m last Sunday.

Antipolo City Fire Marshal Fire Senior Inspector Edilmyr Viray said the fire reached the first alarm before it was put out at 7:35 a.m.
