With job creation emerging as a top voter concern for the May 2025 midterm elections, Kaunlad Pinoy is advocating for solutions that focus on fostering new businesses, encouraging entrepreneurship, and addressing the country’s job mismatch.

Citing a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, which found that job creation is a priority for Filipino voters, Kaunlad Pinoy first nominee Kuya Choi said the issue requires supporting the creation of new businesses, not just expanding existing ones.

“Just a few months from now, thousands more will graduate and join the growing workforce in search of employment. We must be ready,” Kuya Choi said. “Kaunlad Pinoy is committed to increasing the number of businesses — because more businesses mean more job opportunities.”

The party stressed that relying solely on existing employers is insufficient to solve unemployment. “The lack of job opportunities will not be resolved if we rely only on businesses that already exist. We must build more, support more and encourage more,” it said.

Kaunlad Pinoy also stressed the importance of addressing the job mismatch by creating a diverse business environment that can accommodate a wide range of skills and professions.

“Different types of businesses are needed to solve the job mismatch. We need to ensure that the jobs we create match the capabilities and aspirations of our workers,” Kuya Choi said.

“Working in a company is not the only opportunity — creating and working for your own business is an equally powerful path,” Kaunlad Pinoy said. “We believe that empowering individuals to start their own ventures is key to unlocking inclusive economic growth.”

The SWS survey revealed that 92 percent of Filipinos are more likely to vote for candidates who prioritize job creation. Other top voter concerns include food security and agriculture (93 percent), healthcare (91 percent), poverty reduction (87 percent) and lowering prices of basic goods (85 percent).

Kaunlad Pinoy said their platform reflects this shift in voter priorities toward livelihood, opportunity and sustainability. “We hear the people. And we stand with them in creating a future where jobs are not just available, but meaningful and matched to people’s potential,” they said.
