CAPAS, Tarlac — Hurdler Robyn Brown is far from satisfied despite a scintillating performance that had her lording it over in the women’s 400-meter hurdles at the Philippine Athletics Championships at the New Clark City Stadium here.

Brown pulled the rug from under fancied fellow Filipino-American and Paris Olympian Lauren Hoffman to snatch the gold medal in the hotly-contested event Thursday.

“This is definitely a stepping stone in gearing up for the Asian championships, so I could secure my title,” Brown said after clocking 57.39 seconds for the top podium.

“But I still have a lot of work to do, especially with the hurdles,” the 30-year-old hurdler said.

Brown guns for back-to-back gold medals when she competes in the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea which will run from 27 to 31 May.

Hoffman, who saw her three-peat bid crumble, also admitted she needs to work on her skills and continue recovering from an Achilles injury.

Not in full health, Hoffman settled for silver with a time of one minute and 20 seconds.

“I’m going to try to get healthy, try to get some training in. I tried my best,” she said.

“It’s just not a lot today, but you know, congrats to Robin and the other competitors.”
