Megastar Sharon Cuneta Pangilinan is set to join her husband, former senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, for a landmark visit to Camp Darapanan this Friday.
Pangilinan will receive a formal endorsement from the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), the official political party of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), led by UBJP Vice President for Central Mindanao Mohagher Iqbal.
The visit comes on the heels of a recent endorsement by MILF’s Kumander Bravo (Abdullah Macapaar) in Lanao del Norte, signaling growing confidence in Pangilinan’s platform of peace, food security, and inclusive development.
“Hunger knows no political color. The solutions shouldn’t either. When we invest in our farmers and fisherfolk —whether in Luzon, Visayas, or Mindanao — we create unity grounded in dignity,” Pangilinan said ahead of the visit.
He underscored that Mindanao would be a top priority under his leadership, emphasizing the region’s critical role in both national food production and peacebuilding efforts.
As principal author of the Sagip Saka Law, Pangilinan has long advocated for direct government support to food producers, championing Mindanao’s farmers and fisherfolk through improved access to markets, subsidies, and infrastructure. He has also supported the Bangsamoro transition, pushing for adequate funding, stronger local governance, and meaningful inclusion in national policymaking.
“Mindanao feeds the nation. If we give real support to those who put food on our tables, we can fight hunger and strengthen unity. Food security will bridge the great divide,” he said.
UBJP’s endorsement is expected to strengthen Pangilinan’s standing as a national candidate committed to tackling hunger as a core strategy for national healing — transcending political lines and historical divisions.
Friday’s visit will also mark Sharon Cuneta’s first time in Camp Darapanan, a heartfelt symbol of solidarity and shared hope for lasting peace.
“Real change begins when we listen to the voices of communities that have long been left behind,” Pangilinan added.
