Kaunlad Pinoy fights red tape

To help lift local entrepreneurs and make doing business easier across the country, Kaunlad Pinoy Partylist (#133) is calling on both the executive and legislative branches to streamline and standardize business processes in cities and municipalities.

Kuya Choi, Kaunlad Pinoy’s first nominee and a seasoned retail entrepreneur, underscored the importance of streamlining permits and business requirements through a unified, nationwide approach.

“Each city and municipality has its own way of doing things,” Kuya Choi said. “We’re not here to take away their authority, but we can encourage a more consistent system. That way, local leaders aren’t left second-guessing what’s best, and entrepreneurs can focus on building great businesses — knowing they’ll be supported no matter where they set up shop.”

Bureaucracy still a roadblock

Despite ongoing reforms, red tape still makes it tough for many micro and small business owners to get off the ground. Unclear requirements, inconsistent application processes, and long lines have discouraged countless Filipinos from registering their businesses and growing their livelihoods.

“We’ve seen too many would-be entrepreneurs give up before they even start, simply because of how complicated things are,” Kuya Choi added. “If we can create a clear, unified system, we’re not just helping small businesses — we’re empowering entire communities.”
