Millions of people were left without electricity across Spain, Portugal, and part of southern France Monday due to a massive blackout, grid operators said.
The cause of the outage was not immediately identified. Spain’s state electricity network operator, Red Electrica, reported on X that power had been restored in both the north and south of the country. Portugal’s REN operator confirmed that the entire Iberian Peninsula was affected, along with parts of France.
