The Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) is on the lookout for a spot where it can build a new stadium.

PABA president Rodolfo Tingzon Jr. told DAILY TRIBUNE that they are looking at a piece of land in Cavite where they can establish an international-standard stadium that will serve as either a practice facility or competition venue.

An old hand in baseball, Tingzon attended his first Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) general assembly last Monday together with secretary general Michael Asuncion, treasurer Raymond Tolentino and board member John Benito Rabat.

They were warmly welcomed by the local Olympic council with no less than POC president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino presiding over their induction of officers.

“President Bambol asked us right away ‘What do you need, aside from the usual clinics and equipment?’ We told him we needed a field because, even now, we only have been using the Rizal Memorial baseball field and we cannot attract international teams to be able to get the necessary training that we need,” Tingzon said in a telephone conversation on Saturday.

“We need to play against international teams. If not, we will not be able to get an update on the strength of our opponents here in Asia. Therefore, it is very important if you have an international standard field.”

Tingzon said Tolentino even offered spots in Tagaytay City for potential venues.
