SAN JUAN, La Union — This early, the 2026 staging of the Tour of Luzon is already taking shape.

Overwhelmed by the show of tremendous support and immense public response to the ongoing bikefest, two key players of the 2025 edition are on the same page as to how next year’s event would be held.

Patrick Gregorio, whose Duckworld PH is running the show of the eight-leg Tour that kicked off in Paoay in Ilocos Norte last Thursday, feels it would be just be fitting that the races be held in Luzon.

“People remember the race as the Tour of Luzon,” Gregorio said.

Out of sheer excitement, a personage recently floated the idea of having more stages next year but Gregorio said doing just that will prompt everyone involved to rebrand the race.

Another prime mover of the race, commissaire Jun Lomibao, said that if there are plans to add more laps, those races can be done in southern Luzon, particularly in the Bicol region with the majestic Mayon Volcano as backdrop to one of the featured legs.

“(A total of) 14 (stages),” Lomibao said.

In the end, the two agreed that Baguio City would be the perfect ending to the race owing to its cool weather, something all the riders and everyone involved in the road race are looking forward to after two weeks battling the intense heat and the burning sun.

Gregorio said the City of Pines will be the right venue to end the race.
