The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) has called for the completion of the NLEX–SLEX Connector Road Project (NSCRP) and Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3, citing their benefits for commuters and national economic growth.
While voicing this appeal, the business group reiterated full support for the government’s infrastructure development program to address the country’s infrastructure gaps.
“The significant project currently under construction is the link connecting the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road Project (NSCRP) and the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3. This essential infrastructure will enhance connectivity between the northern and the southern provinces, significantly reducing travel time for people, goods, and services, thereby promoting economic growth,” MAP said in a statement signed by president Al Panlilio and Eduardo Yap, chairperson of the MAP Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan reported in January that civil works for the NSCRP are 69 percent complete, while right‑of‑way acquisition stands at 94 percent. Construction of the ₱12.20‑billion project began in May 2019.
“It will facilitate seamless access between the NAIA and the Clark airports, as well as the ports of Bataan, Manila, and Batangas, improving operations for various businesses and boosting tourism potential. The logistics sector will also benefit from this project, as cargo trucks will have 24/7 access to the road without concerns about truck bans,” MAP noted.
“Additionally, this alternative route will help alleviate congestion on major thoroughfares in Metro Manila, including España Boulevard, Quezon Avenue, Lacson Avenue, Magsaysay Boulevard, and Quirino Avenue. We strongly urge the government and the parties involved to fast-track the completion of this project and other vital infrastructure developments for nation-building,” the group added.
