Legends recognize greatness.

Danny Seigle surely knows what he was talking about when the former San Miguel Beer star tagged current Beermen ace June Mar Fajardo as arguably the league’s greatest of all time.

The player who revolutionized the small forward position during his colorful 18-year career put Fajardo on top of the list of stars who have made a huge impact in the PBA.

“I’m coming in with June Mar Fajardo, who is probably the best player. He is a GOAT,” Seigle said as he and Fajardo led the 10 names inducted in the PBA 50 Greatest Players last Friday in a gala night held at the Solaire Resort North.

The 48-year-old Filipino-American joined the 6-foot-10 Fajardo, an eight-time Most Valuable Player and 11-time Best Player of the Conference, in the latest batch of honorees in the exclusive club in celebration of the league’s golden anniversary.

Seigle, the 1999 Rookie of the Year and an eight-time champion, finally got his much-deserved recognition after missing the cut in the shortlist of 15 names added in 2015 that expanded the PBA Greatest list to 40.

The first 25 players in the list were named back in 2000.

The two-time BPC and four-time Finals MVP was in the batch that included Nelson Asaytono, Bong Hawkins, Jeffrey Cariaso, Abe King, Yoyoy Villamin, Manny Victorino, the late Arnie Tuadles and active player Scottie Thompson.

“It’s a privilege to be with such a great company,” Seigle said.

The 6-foot-6 player who has spent 12 years with the Beermen before transferring to Air21 for two seasons and ending his playing career as a TNT player back in 2017, was just happy to earn his place in the league’s cream of the crop.
