President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. vetoed proposed legislation granting Filipino citizenship to Chinese national Li Duan Wang, Malacañang Palace announced on Friday.
Wang, also known as Mark Ong, is a businessman identified by Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros in January as having ties to POGO operations.
According to Hontiveros, Wang was an incorporator of POGO service provider Powergate Infinity Holdings, whose employees were allegedly involved in various crimes such as kidnapping, smuggling, and bribery.
He is also said to be the operator of the 9 Dynasty junket group, with officers shared with Rivendell, a POGO hub in Pasay City involved in illegal activities.
Wang is also reportedly accused of failing to disclose vital information crucial to his identity and naturalization application.
Malacañang Palace has yet to release copies of his veto message.
