Former senator and senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan brought his campaign to Bulacan province on Tuesday, where he aimed to promote his advocacies on food security and the welfare of farmers and fisherfolk.
His motorcade journeyed from Plaridel to Malolos, where he was scheduled to hold a political rally later at the Malolos City Hall Amphitheater.
In Plaridel, the former senator started his motorcade at Ericahlicious Brew and Bake, then continued to Waltermart Plaridel via the Plaridel-Pulilan Diversion Road before reaching General Alejo S. Santos Highway and finally, the Gov. Padilla Road.
Pangilinan expressed his gratitude to Plaridel, whose community of farmers, fisherfolk and livestock raisers would benefit greatly from the Sagip Saka Act, a law he passed during his time as senator that allows both national and local governments to purchase food directly from farmers and fisherfolk without the need for public bidding.
“Almost the entire agricultural land here is planted with rice. The livestock sector, including cattle and carabao raising, is also strong, along with the planting of various vegetables like bitter melon, okra, string beans, and tomatoes. The fish market is also thriving, thanks to the support of the BFAR (Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources),” he said.
“Together, we will work to ensure that those who feed our country have enough support and income. We salute you, the people of Plaridel!” he added.
