I recently took the Jaecoo EJ6 for a thorough test drive — not once, but twice — to truly get a feel of what it’s like to live with it. First, I brought it up the winding roads of Marilaque, where every curve and incline is a perfect excuse to push a car just a little. If your car can handle Marilaque, it can handle almost anything. The Jaecoo EJ6 thrived on uphill climbs and zigzags. No drama, just a smooth and confident drive. On the way back, I made a stop at an Ilocano restaurant with a branch in San Juan, La Union.
My second drive took me to Clark, Pampanga, with my good friend Melvin, to test how the Jaecoo EJ6 performs on long stretches of highway. Highway driving can sometimes feel repetitive, but not this time. The ride was so smooth and whisper-quiet that we barely noticed the kilometers passing by. Acceleration was quick and decisive. Overtaking feels natural, not forced. After clocking in some mileage, we treated ourselves to sizzling sisig from a legendary Pampanga joint, then capped it off with pizza from a local favorite that’s worth driving two hours for.
This wasn’t my first time behind the wheel of the Jaecoo EJ6. Back in February 2025, I had already tested what this SUV could do during a media drive at the Batangas Racing Circuit. Guided by instructor Matthew Pascual, I drove it through muddy, uneven off-road terrain. The Jaecoo EJ6 handled everything we threw at it like a seasoned 4x4. Its “Whirl” mode, which locks the rear wheels to execute sharp turns, made tight U-turns feel playful. The Prodrive Suspension gave a smooth, stable ride even on tricky surfaces, and traction felt rock-solid.
Inside, the cabin is like stepping into a plush, leather-wrapped sanctuary. The premium leather seats have that familiar, comforting baseball glove feel — both stylish and homey. From the moment you sit down, it’s clear this interior was designed with real people in mind. The user interface is so intuitive that I was adjusting the settings and navigating menus within minutes.
There’s wireless charging for your phone, too. And if you ever forget it, the car gently chimes in: “Mighty owner, your phone is charging. Please don’t forget to take it with you.” Suddenly, you’re not just a driver — you’re mighty. And no phone gets left behind on your watch.
The 15.6-inch infotainment system, powered by a snappy Qualcomm processor, allows you to tweak almost every setting in the car. From ambient lighting to smart driving features like lane departure warnings and drive-away alerts, everything is menu-based and easy to find.
The Jaecoo EJ6 comes with nine driving modes tailored for every kind of road and mood: Eco (for tipid days), Standard (for daily driving), Sport (for quick bursts), Muddy, Slippery, Beach, Bumpy, All-Road, and the Whirl mode for tight turns. Whatever the terrain or weather, you feel like the car’s already prepared for it.
Safety-wise, the Jaecoo EJ6 is like having a hyper-aware friend on board. It warns you when another vehicle is approaching too close, nudges you back in your lane if you drift, and reminds you when the car in front has moved. It even alerts you when tire pressure needs checking.
Driver and passenger comfort are on another level. The front passenger seat has a built-in leg-rest and recline mode. This is ideal for road trips or traffic naps.

I floored the gas pedal on the highway, and it delivered on its promise.
Lastly, the rear barn door is a simple joy. It opens wide, closes softly, and makes loading stuff into the trunk a no-sweat task. Just like how your ref door closes when you forget to push it.
