Italy-based Jasmine Ramilo, fresh from winning the gold medal in the Olympia 74 Cup, displays her wares in the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The 17-year-old will join forces with Breanna Labadan for the second leg of the World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 18 to 20 April.
Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) secretary general Rowena Bautista said they are helping Ramilo, who is under the tutelage of Italy national team coach Claudia Mancinelli, learn the ropes as she competes against more experienced gymnasts.
GAP is using the formula that worked for two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.
“Jasmine joining the World Cup series is significant so that she can lay the foundation for her qualification for the World Championships. This is the process we are undertaking for her to qualify for L.A. 2028,” Bautista said.
Ramilo is the first Filipino to earn a podium finish in the Rhythmic Gymnastics Asian Championships after clinching the bronze medal in the clubs apparatus in the junior division.
