SAN JUAN, Ilocos Sur — The San Juan Municipal Police Station, under the leadership of Police Major Benjamin S. Raquedan, has reminded political candidates to secure their official Permit to Campaign (PTC) before engaging in any campaign-related activities.

Major Raquedan emphasized that the San Juan PNP is committed to maintaining peace and order throughout the election period.

“We are encouraging all political candidates and supporters to secure the necessary Permit to Campaign before engaging in any campaign-related activities. This permit is required by law to ensure that your campaigns are conducted peacefully and without any intimidation or violence," Raquedan said.

He said, however, that paying "permit to campaign" fees to extremist groups like the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People's Army (CPP-NPA) is strictly prohibited and can lead to disqualification.

Raquedan pointed out that "this practice is considered a form of extortion. Instead, focus on obtaining the necessary permits from the authorities and conducting your campaigns in a peaceful and respectful manner. Remember, the goal of campaigning is to win the hearts and minds of the voters, not to resort to illegal practices."

The San Juan PNP urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station.

Lieutenant Reynald N. Ramos, deputy chief of police, said the situation in San Juan remains calm, and no election-related concerns have been reported so far.
