Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go conducted a motorcade through remote barangays here Saturday, 29 March advancing his signature “Malasakit” (compassionate service) initiative to ensure no Filipino is left behind.
“Mr. Malasakit” visited eight underserved communities — Sta. Lucia, San Nicolas 1st, San Nicolas 2nd, Sta. Cruz, Sto. Tomas, San Antonio, Sta. Monica and San Pedro — accompanied by Mayor Lina Cabrera. Residents welcomed the senator, thanking him for his consistent advocacy for marginalized sectors.
The senator inspected a near-complete Super Health Center, one of over 700 such facilities he championed nationwide, including 14 in Pampanga. As chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Go emphasized these centers will provide primary care and early disease detection, particularly in rural areas.
Go authored the 2019 Malasakit Centers Act (Republic Act 11463), establishing 167 centers that have assisted more than 17 million Filipinos. Pampanga hosts four centers, including at Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in San Fernando City.
Beyond healthcare, Go promoted local economic development by engaging with street vendors and supporting the One Town, One Product program under RA 11960, which he co-sponsored. The program boosts Filipino-made goods and expands market opportunities for small producers.
The senator has backed numerous infrastructure projects across Pampanga, including road improvements in 10 municipalities, multipurpose buildings in 11 towns, and evacuation centers in Mexico and Lubao.
Go recently filed Senate Bill 2297 to institutionalize Pampanga’s OFW Hospital and SB 2990 to double its bed capacity. His service earned him recognition through Provincial Resolution 7643-A, while former President Rodrigo Duterte was declared Pampanga’s “adopted son” via Resolution 7643.
Go and his Malasakit Team later joined Mayor Cabrera’s Team LMC event, reinforcing their grassroots commitment.
