Malacañan Palace on Tuesday pushed back against former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque’s call for another people power revolution, questioning the purpose behind such a gathering.

During a press briefing, Undersecretary Claire Castro reacted to Roque’s remarks, which he made during a Facebook Live session, where he insisted there was nothing wrong with calling for a peaceful assembly.

“Peaceful gathering for what? What is the purpose?” Castro asked. “They can discuss this over their YouTube channels, over their social media accounts — so what is that gathering for? If it’s for peace, then why are they calling for the resignation of President Bongbong Marcos?”

When asked about another claim Roque made — that First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos was reportedly angered during Duterte’s presidency because Marcos was not given the Department of Agriculture (DA) post, Castro swiftly dismissed it.

“Fake news. Prove it,” she said.

Pressed on whether there had ever been a discussion between former President Duterte and Marcos Jr. about securing a Cabinet post, Castro doubled down.

“Let him prove it first before we even comment,” she said.
