
Hand and Heart, a social enterprise dedicated to helping the deaf community gain employment, is set to host its first dinner and silent auction event, “Artful Hands, Open Hearts,” in collaboration with Discovery Primea, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and Canada Hardware. Scheduled for 7 April, at Discovery Primea’s Cervantes and Shakespeare Ballrooms, this exclusive four-hands dinner features the culinary talents of celebrity chef Sharwin Tee and Discovery Primea’s executive chef Luis Chikiamco. The event guarantees an unforgettable evening in support of a meaningful cause as proceeds will support the construction and operation of the envisioned Hand and Heart Learning Center for deaf Children.
The evening will not only tantalize the taste buds but also celebrate artistic excellence. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction featuring a diverse array of art pieces. Auction items include works from esteemed art masters, contemporary artists and artists with disabilities, as well as private items donated by celebrities. Proceeds from the auction will contribute to the development of a learning facility dedicated to empowering deaf children through improved educational opportunities.

Genevieve Diokno, the deaf leader and founder of Hand and Heart, emphasized the importance of this initiative Diokno says the main challenge for the deaf community is the lack of tailored educational opportunities. The learning center aims to improve the quality of education for the deaf community leading to better employment opportunities for the deaf and hard of hearing in the future.
Chef Sharwin Tee, known for his philanthropic approach to cuisine, expressed his enthusiasm for the event: “I’ve always believed that food isn’t just about sustenance. At Little Grace, our soon-to-be restaurant, we use food to raise funds to support causes aimed at improving society,” chef Tee upon learning about Hand and Heart and the work they do for the deaf community, he felt essential to contribute.
David Pardo Ayala, general manager of Discovery Primea, shared his excitement: “Discovery Primea has a strong affinity for Filipino artists, and this collaboration strengthens our relationship with the art community. Our previous collaboration with Chef Sharwin Tee was a tremendous success, and we are looking forward to another culinary milestone together.”
