The Commission on Elections formally receives ICT equipment from the United Nations Development Programme at its central office in Intramuros, Manila on Wednesday, 19 March 2025.

In attendance were Comelec chairman George Garcia, and UNDP Rep. Dr. Selva Ramachandran, with Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya as official observer.

In August 2024, the Government of Japan provided a grant of JPY 234 million for the project, which aims to support the inclusive and transparent implementation of the upcoming elections in the Bangsamoro region by the UNDP for 1.5 years. During the ceremony, satellite communication units, servers, and SD-WAN solutions were turned over to Comelec in support of the digitalization of critical electoral processes.

The initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage more Filipinos to participate in the digitalization of the electoral process in Bangsamoro.
