Detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder and senatorial aspirant Apollo Quiboloy has called for “divine intervention” following the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Quiboloy, a longtime ally of Duterte, issued the statement through his legal counsel, Kaye Laurente, during a rally at Liwasang Bonifacio on Saturday, where supporters gathered to demand the former president’s release and repatriation.

“Unlawfulness and illegality seem to dominate today’s landscape. I am praying for Divine Intervention to protect us not only from criminals but also from those in power who should be using their authority to safeguard the Filipino people instead of oppressing and persecuting them,” Quiboloy declared.

Duterte, who faces charges of crimes against humanity, was arrested at Villamor Air Base and transferred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands. Reports claim he was forced onto the flight, a move Quiboloy condemned as “coercion.”

“I am horrified by the news of what transpired at Villamor Air Base, where Tatay Digong was reportedly held and coerced to fly to the Netherlands against his will to face a trial that the world knows is not necessarily legal,” he said.

Quiboloy also recalled his own arrest last September at the KOJC compound in Davao City, where authorities apprehended him over allegations of child abuse and human trafficking. He is currently detained at the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory.

“This lack of compassion, respect, honor, and dignity displayed by our law enforcers is profoundly un-Filipino,” he added.

Despite his own legal battles, Quiboloy remains vocal in defending Duterte, urging Filipinos to stand against what he calls the "oppression" of the former president.
