Boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas were the stars of the night after being hailed as Athletes of the Year during the All-Women Sports Awards at the Century Park Hotel Grand Ballroom Saturday evening.
Petecio and Villegas stood oit last year after clinching a bronze medal each in the Paris Olympics.
Petecio was present during the event while national team boxer Risa Pasuit accepted Villegas' award on her behalf.
This is the second straight time that there were two recepients for Athlete of the Year after seeing Alex Eala of boxing and Sarina Bolden of football feted last year.
Meanwhile, Eala was given the Flame Award this year along with Agatha Wong of wushu and marathoner Rosalinda Ogsimer.
Meggie Ochoa of jiu-jitsu was also feted with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
These athletes were among the 141 awardees honored in the event that is in collaboration with the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Commission on Women.
