Defending champion Cignal aims to keep its momentum as it seeks a repeat victory over Savouge while Criss Cross looks to extend its unbeaten run to seven matches when it collides with VNS-Laticrete in the resumption of the second round of the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference eliminations today at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The HD Spikers are determined to secure back-to-back wins after suffering a tough straight-set defeat to the King Crunchers, facing the unpredictable Spin Doctors at 6 p.m., while the unbeaten Criss Cross side hopes to dominate the young Griffins in their 3 p.m. encounter.

Both matches also serve as crucial tune-ups for the two powerhouse squads ahead of their highly anticipated rematch on Friday.

With a 5-1 (win-loss) slate, Cignal is eager to stay within striking distance of Criss Cross, which has been flawless in its first six matches.

The HD Spikers are banking on a strong performance this week, knowing the importance of consistency in their game.

Cignal head coach Dexter Clamor underscored the need for sustained efficiency and focus, especially with crucial matches lined up.

“This week will be tough as we face Savouge and Criss Cross again. Our mindset is simple — stay consistent in all aspects of the game,” Clamor said.

“We have to maintain our efficiency in serving, receiving, attacking and blocking. Most importantly, we cannot lose focus.”

With Jau Umandal still uncertain to suit up due to a hyperextended knee, Cignal will turn to Steven Rotter, Wendel Miguel and JP Bugaoan to spearhead their offensive charge against Savouge’s formidable trio of Shawie Caritativo, Mark Calado and Madz Gampong.

Meanwhile, Criss Cross appears poised for another dominant outing when it clashes with the struggling VNS squad, which is reeling from consecutive straight-set losses to Savouge and Cignal. The King Crunchers remain in high gear, anchored on the explosive troika of Jude Garcia, Jaron Requinton and Nico Almendras.

Setter Ish Polvorosa, who was recently named Player of the Week by the PVL Press Corps, is expected to orchestrate Criss Cross’ high-powered offense once again.

In the 1 p.m. opener, Alpha Insurance and PGJC-Navy look to snap their respective losing streaks.

The Sealions, bannered by Jack Kalingking, John Ashley Jacob, and Peter Quiel, are raring to halt their four-game skid. On the other hand, the Protectors will lean on Edward Camposano, Vince Nadera and JJ Javelona as they chase only their second win in seven matches.
