BAGUIO CITY — Face-to-face classes in both private and public schools in the province of Abra will be suspended due to extreme heat.
Abra Acting Governor signed the advisory from the Abra Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), recommending the suspension of classes across the province.
The suspension comes amid the intense heat affecting many areas in the country, particularly in North and Central Luzon.
The PDRRMC issued the advisory in anticipation of rising temperatures, with the heat index forecasted to reach 33° Celsius, and a Heat Real Feel of 38°C. The council has urged the public to follow health and safety guidelines to prevent weather-related emergencies.
Online classes and other alternative learning methods will continue to ensure that students’ education remains uninterrupted.
Meanwhile, residents of Baguio City are also experiencing rising temperatures.
As of 7 March, the lowest recorded temperature was 17° Celsius, with a midday high expected to reach 24°C.
