New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has partnered with global technology leader Collins Aerospace to help deliver the promise of a passenger experience at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) through a comprehensive systems overhaul.
NNIC said Thursday that Collins Aerospace's on-site support team will arrive in May to begin the project, which will be carried out in phases.
“This modernization is long overdue, and we are committed to transforming NAIA into a world-class gateway,” NNIC president Ramon Ang said. “With these advancements, NAIA will be one of the most modern and efficient airports in the region.”
The overhaul will bring several key upgrades, including a Common Use Passenger Processing System, Common Use Self-Service kiosks, and biometric screening technology aimed at reducing wait times and improving security.
Alongside these enhancements, passengers will benefit from real-time flight information through an upgraded Flight Information Display System and the NAIA website.
Security will be improved with pre-security e-gates and passenger flow management systems.
The modernization will also streamline airport operations by implementing a new Airport Operational Database, Resource Management System, Baggage Reconciliation System, flight tracking, predictive analytics, and an automated airline billing system.
NNIC aims to have core systems operational by August, with the final phase, including self-service kiosks, e-gates, and biometric boarding gates, set for completion by September.
