Filipino-Canadian spiker Savi Davison continues to make waves in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference, delivering yet another explosive performance to help PLDT advance to the quarterfinals.
Matching her career-high of 34 points, Davison once again displayed her scoring prowess in the High Speed Hitters’ four-set victory over ZUS Coffee in the qualifying round late Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.
Her offensive explosion in their convincing 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 26-24 victory matched the career output that he notched during their stunning five-set win over powerhouse Creamline on 15 February.
All in all, Davison emerged as the league’s top scorer with an impressive 262 points, consisting of 236 spikes, 25 blocks, and an ace. Her dominance on the court has been a defining factor in PLDT’s campaign as they look to go deeper in their quest for a PVL title.
“I want a championship,” Davison told DAILY TRIBUNE in an interview.
“I wanna be, you know, at that really top spot at the end of the season. I guess I’m really preparing for that, so hopefully, I’ll just keep performing until we get there when that time comes.”
Despite her consistent MVP-like numbers, Davison remains grounded, emphasizing her team-first mentality.
“I get that question a lot, and it’s hard to put into words. You go into a game, and you try your best. I’m just glad that it’s being represented in numbers,” Davison said, adding that she’s no longer tracking her statistics closely.
“Now, I just look at them at the end and hope they’re good. But it’s put me in a better mindset to just keep going throughout the game, produce for the team, and help in any way possible.”
More than personal accolades, Davison values the experience and the opportunity to grow in the PVL.
“I prioritize the team, obviously, and a championship, that’s everyone’s goal,” she said as they prepare to face Choco Mucho in the quarterfinals.
“But for me, it’s also about getting better, learning more, finding my roots, and just enjoying the entire experience.”
