The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported a significant 37.06% decrease in crime incidents across Metro Manila as of February 2025, highlighting improvements in public safety.

NCRPO Acting Chief PBGen. Anthony Aberin stated that focus crimes, which include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, and vehicle theft, dropped from 545 cases in February 2024 to 343 cases this year.

Data from the Crime Information, Reporting, and Analysis System revealed that murder cases declined by 41.94%, while homicide saw a 25% reduction.

Cases of physical injury and rape both dropped by nearly 50%, with physical injury falling from 57 to 29 cases and rape from 91 to 46 cases. Robbery incidents also decreased by 33.73%, and theft cases were down by 33.62%.

Carnapping cases followed the trend, with motor vehicle carnapping down by 57.14%, while motorcycle carnapping registered an 11.43% decrease.

Aberin emphasized that crime solution efficiency had also improved, increasing by 8.68 percentage points from 67.71% in February 2024 to 76.38% in February 2025.

He attributed the decline in crime to enhanced police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, and stronger community engagement.

"We understand that some may not immediately feel the impact of these improvements, but the numbers speak for themselves,” Aberin said, attributing the reduction in focus crime figures to the “enhanced police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, and stronger community engagement.”
