Two-time world 10-ball champion Rubilen Amit picked up twin wins in the Las Vegas Women’s Open and the Mixed Doubles Open on Thursday at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Amit, 43, breezed past Briana Laine of the United States, 2-0, in the first round of the winner’s bracket of the Las Vegas Women’s Open to inch closer to the prize pot of $22,750 or around P1.3 million.

The 10-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist is battling Filipino teammate Chezka Centeno in an all-Filipino clash in the winner’s qualification at press time.

After her singles stint, Amit joined forces with Filipino billiards icon Francisco “Django” Bustamante in the Mixed Doubles Open, where they racked up back-to-back wins.

After losing to Hojun Kwon and Harin Lee of South Korea, 0-2, in the first round, the Filipino duo bounced back with a 2-0 sweep of Chia Hua Chen and Hui Chan Lu of Taiwan in the first round of the loser’s bracket.

Amit and Bustamante took down the Taiwanese pair of Wan-Ling Wan and Chia-Chin Hsieh, 2-1, in the second round of the loser’s bracket to face Yvonne Hybler of Germany and Filipino-Canadian billiards player Alex Pagulayan in the third round as of writing.
