Lopez claims massive Tondo vote buying
Published on

Manny Lopez, a former two-term congressman from the historic district of Tondo, is staging a political comeback, vowing to bring honest and genuine public service to the first district of Manila.

Lopez on Monday criticized his opponents for their alleged unethical behavior, including using sirens and motorcycle escorts, as well as their alleged involvement in illegal gambling.

Though he did not name them, Lopez is running against incumbent Rep. Ernix Dionisio and Joseph Lumbad.

Lopez lamented that his rivals were engaged in early and massive vote-buying, treating the people of Tondo as if they were “for sale.”

He stressed that he could not, in good conscience, participate in such practices, as relief from money is temporary compared to the lasting impact of his programs.

“On the day of reckoning, on election day, we will hold our heads high because what we offer is honest and genuine service, not deceit or gambling,” Lopez said.

“In my view, I have full confidence that Mayor Honey and Vice Mayor Yul Servo are the ones who can deliver honest and genuine service,” Lopez said.
