Pasig mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya has proposed building an 11-story Pasig University and expanding scholarship opportunities for city residents.
Discaya, who is running on a platform focused on creating a "smart city," said the university would provide accessible higher education to Pasig students.
She also stressed the importance of modern facilities for quality education.
"One of the keys to quality education is having robust, effective, and modern facilities that our students can use and benefit from," Discaya said.
Discaya also proposed lowering the grade requirement for city-funded college scholarships to 75 percent, aiming to provide equal opportunities for students who may not meet current academic standards.
"I hope this will be lowered so that all students can study and have equal opportunity," Discaya said. "Grades should not be a hindrance to fulfilling their dreams."
She added that scholarships should be available to students who lack financial resources, regardless of academic standing.
Discaya also stated that Pasig's surplus funds and annual budget should be distributed fairly to support essential needs, including healthcare, education, peace and order and social protection.
