President “Ferdinand” Marcos Jr., on Thursday, recognized the achievements of the nation’s newly promoted generals in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
On Thursday, Marcos led their oathtaking ceremony in Malacañang Palace.
In his remarks, he underscored how challenges develop leaders.
“In the toughest of times, leaders are those who have the ability to transform challenges into victories,” he said in his remarks. “Each of you here had your fair share of challenges in protecting the Filipino people and in protecting our nation.”
The President also noted how the newly promoted military leaders rose above the challenges that they have faced.
“You persevered in improving our country’s security, you have pursued reforms to better your organization, and you have taken steps to enhance your capabilities,” he said.
“The courage, dedication, and patriotism of those who have taken the mantle of leadership in the Armed Forces deserve the highest recognition and admiration from our proud and grateful nation,” he added.
According to Marcos, their career milestone is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and adherence to their duties as the country’s defenders.
He reminded the newly-minted leaders to always carry the core values of the AFP as they continue to move upward within the agency.
“I am certain that you can never go astray so long as you are guided by the time-honored principle of serving with honor and with integrity,” Marcos said.
“Let us all be shining examples of how a Bagong Pilipino should be: disciplined, patriotic, and ever-committed to the greater good for the greatest number,” he added.
Marcos also assured his administration’s full support for the military in discharging their duties.
“This Administration stands with you side by side in upholding peace, democracy, and the rule of law,” he said. “As your Commander-in-Chief, I offer you my salute and express my utmost appreciation to all your selfless sacrifices and services, not only to get to this point but all through the years of your duty.”
He also honored the family and loved one of the AFP personnel who had also made sacrifices in the service for the country.
