The Municipality of Plaridel has taken a major step towards sustainable waste management and regulatory compliance by integrating the RecyclX digital platform, positioning itself as an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)-ready local government unit (LGU).

This initiative is set to enhance waste traceability, streamline reporting and strengthen circular economy efforts within the municipality.

With the EPR Law (RA 11898) now in effect, municipalities must demonstrate efficient waste collection, segregation and plastic recovery processes. Through the RecyclX platform, Plaridel is now equipped to:

Digitally Track Waste Movements — Real-time monitoring of waste collection and diversion rates, ensuring proper documentation of plastic waste from collection to final processing.

Ensure Compliance with EPR Mandates — Automated reporting and data-driven decision-making that simplifies regulatory adherence and reduces administrative burden.

Enhance Community Engagement — Enabling households, businesses and waste collectors to participate efficiently in the waste management ecosystem through digital tracking.

Support Plastic Credit Programs — Providing verified documentation for Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) and brands offsetting their plastic footprints, ensuring credibility and transparency.

Optimize Waste Infrastructure Planning — Data-driven insights help the municipality allocate resources effectively, improving waste collection efficiency and identifying areas needing better waste management solutions.

The implementation of RecyclX in Plaridel marks a significant milestone in its journey toward a sustainable waste management system. By integrating this cutting-edge digital solution, the municipality is not only ensuring compliance with national and international waste management standards but also empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions based on real-time data.

Municipal counsellors, expressing enthusiasm for this milestone, stated, “With RecyclX, we are not only complying with national waste management regulations but also creating a model for other LGUs to follow. Our community now benefits from a more transparent and accountable waste management system. This initiative enables us to track waste, engage local businesses and households in sustainable practices, and improve our overall waste management infrastructure.”

The adoption of RecyclX is a testament to Plaridel’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. By leveraging technology-driven solutions, the municipality is paving the way for a cleaner, more responsible future, setting an example for other LGUs across the Philippines. The initiative also supports the country’s broader circular economy goals, ensuring that plastic waste is managed efficiently and turned into valuable resources.

This forward-thinking approach aligns with the Philippines’ national objectives of achieving zero waste to nature and promoting a sustainable, circular economy. By utilizing digital monitoring tools and integrating data analytics, Plaridel is building a resilient and environmentally conscious community that prioritizes accountability and efficiency in waste management.
