In an effort to hire and train the upcoming generation of highly qualified Air Traffic Management Officers, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) declared on Tuesday that it is currently accepting applications for the Comprehensive Air Traffic Service Course — Batch 19 (CATS 19).

According to CAAP, this initiative offers dedicated individuals a chance to play an important role in maintaining the security and effectiveness of Philippine airspace as demand for air travel keeps growing. In order to preserve the integrity of the nation’s aviation operations, CAAP’s air traffic controllers oversee aircraft movements, avoid mid-air collisions and react quickly to crises.

Interested candidates can check the eligibility requirements on CAAP’s official social media channels. They can also submit their completed application forms and other documentation in person or by mail/courier by 5 p.m. on 30 May 2025.

On 28 June this year, eligible applicants will take the nationwide examination. Those that make it through will go on to the interview phase, which will be followed by a subsequent medical examination.

CAAP’s air traffic controllers receive extensive crisis response training to equip them to be ready to manage in-flight emergencies, severe weather and technical failures. They have made swift, intelligent decisions under pressure, which has helped save lives and minimize interruptions in aviation travel.

As the guardians of Philippine skies, CAAP director general captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo emphasized the vital responsibility of air traffic controllers, making sure that every aircraft arrives at its destination safely and effectively.

DG captain Tamayo stated that they support the highest standards of aviation safety and encourage enthusiastic people to pursue this fulfilling vocation.

The CAAP chief added that the agency remains committed to enhancing air traffic control and producing top-tier aviation experts as the country’s aviation network continuously grows.
