The Philippines and Timor-Leste are keen on exchanging insights on developing robust capital markets, the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) said.
National Treasurer Sharon Almanza, along with Finance Undersecretary Joven Balbosa, discussed the matter with Timor-Leste Finance Minister Santina Jose Viegas Cardoso during the 2025 Open Government Partnership Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting, which was held from 5 to 7 February in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Almanza conveyed enthusiasm for sharing the Philippines’ historical and technical experience through a potential knowledge-sharing partnership with Timor-Leste.
The government seeks to help enhance Timor-Leste's local government bond market and access to international capital markets.
