The Philippine Embassy in Korea has issued a warning to Filipinos living in the country about the extreme cold weather.
In an advisory released on Friday, the Embassy urged Filipinos to take precautionary measures such as wearing layered clothing, gloves, scarves and hats to protect themselves from the freezing temperatures.
“The Philippine Embassy in Seoul advises all Filipino nationals in South Korea to take necessary precautions as the country faces severe cold weather and snowfall in the coming days,” the Embassy stated.
“According to local weather reports, temperatures are expected to plummet significantly, with heavy snowfall and strong winds impacting several regions, including Seoul and nearby provinces,” it added.
The Embassy also urged children, the elderly and individuals with health conditions to limit outdoor activities and stay indoors as much as possible.
Travelers and commuters were advised to check weather updates before heading out, as roads and sidewalks may become slippery. They were also encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel if possible.
Communities were reminded to stock up on essentials like flashlights, batteries, food, and water in case of power interruptions.
“The Embassy urges everyone to stay informed by monitoring official weather updates from the Korea Meteorological Administration and local authorities,” the advisory concluded.
