Artist Levi Balubayan, 65, paints a replica of Fernando Amorsolo’s "Mango Girl" inside his small studio at Central Market in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Tuesday, 4 February 2025.
Born into a family of artists, Balubayan began his career in high school before dropping out of an engineering course in his third year of college to pursue art full time. His usual clients are collectors and he regularly attends galleries and exhibits. He said this particular painting he's working on will take at least three days to complete and will cost P30,000.
This month of February, we celebrate National Arts Month, highlighting the rich cultural heritage and creative talents of Filipino artists.
