Filipina-French beauty queen Maureen Montagne has officially announced that she will not be competing in this year’s Miss Universe Philippines due to contractual obligations.
On Sunday, Montagne took to Instagram Stories to share her decision, citing conflicts with her international modeling contracts as the reason for stepping back from the pageant.
“Hello everyone, I would like to thank you all for your support within the pageantry community. I would like to formally announce that I will not be competing in MUPh,” she wrote.
She further explained, “I have international modeling contracts I cannot break.”
Despite her decision to withdraw, Montagne expressed gratitude to her supporters for believing in her potential to compete again. She also vowed to support the candidates in the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines 2025 competition.
“I’m looking forward to supporting all of the queens this year! May the best woman win. Wishing everyone love and light,” she said.
In 2017, Montagne was crowned Miss Globe, becoming the second Filipina to win the title after Ann Colis (2015). She was also a Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2017 titleholder. Earlier in her career, she finished first runner-up in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2013 and in 2015, Montagne won Miss USA Arizona and competed in Miss USA, where she reached the Top 15.
While she won’t be competing in Miss Universe Philippines, Montagne remains active in international modeling and continues to represent the Philippines on a global stage in the fashion industry.
