A group of 23 South Korean firms have offered their expertise to speed up the development of New Clark City, among other properties of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
The “Team Korea to the Philippines” was launched on 23 January by the National Agency for Administrative City Construction (NAACC), led by Administrator Kim Hyeong Ryeol, leveraging Korea’s expertise in making the Administrative City of Sejong a growth center.
NAACC sealed a memorandum of understanding with the BCDA in September last year, as the Korean group has been promoting collaboration on urban development initiatives.
BCDA has expressed strong interest in attracting Korean companies to participate in building urban infrastructure and developing smart cities.
In response, the NAACC launched “Team Korea to the Philippines” to connect BCDA with Korean firms interested in entering the Philippine market, providing opportunities for project bids and collaborative ventures.
The launch ceremony for Team Korea in the Philippines was attended by various entities responsible for operational support and sectional coordination, including the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corp., International Contractors Association of Korea and Smart City Association, a key partner in managing and organizing the consortium.
Key participants included representatives from public institutions specializing in overseas infrastructure development and private firms with expertise in construction, smart city technology and urban planning.
