
BAGUIO CITY — Authorities are intensifying their search for seven individuals who went missing along with their fishing boat in the waters near Calayan Island, Cagayan Province.
According to initial reports, the fishing boat, carrying seven people, departed from Claveria at 4:30 a.m. on 15 January, en route to Dilam, Calayan. However, it failed to reach its destination at the expected time.
Cagayan authorities are working closely with other agencies to verify details about the boat’s passengers and crew, reportedly consisting of five individuals.
They are also working to confirm the identities of all seven on board, including one who is said to be a member of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
In a statement posted by the Cagayan Public Information Office, relatives of the missing persons have acknowledged the incident and expressed hope for the swift recovery of their loved ones.
The search and rescue operation remains ongoing as authorities coordinate efforts to locate the missing boat and its occupants.
