TBA Studios announced on Thursday that the much-anticipated historical biographical film Quezon is set to begin production this year, with a target theatrical release later in 2025.
The film will chronicle the life of Manuel L. Quezon, a Filipino lawyer, soldier, and the first President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944.
It will also delve into his tumultuous presidential campaign against former president Emilio Aguinaldo.
Quezon continues TBA Studios’ Bayaniverse — a cinematic series of Philippine historical films that includes the critically acclaimed box office hits Heneral Luna and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.
Jerrold Tarog, the director and co-writer of Heneral Luna and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral, will return to helm Quezon.
In 2018, TBA Studios announced that actor Benjamin Alves is set to play the role of Manuel L. Quezon, completing the trilogy on the Philippine Revolution that began with Heneral Luna.
Filming is scheduled to start in March 2025, with fans eagerly anticipating the final installment of Tarog’s groundbreaking trilogy.
